LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

Founded in 1988, the Sevilleta LTER program includes research activities on the traditional homelands of the Indigenous peoples of central New Mexico.

Today’s Indigenous peoples of New Mexico, including Pueblo, Navajo, Apache and their ancestors, have deep connections to the land and make significant contributions to the broader community statewide. We acknowledge that their lands were forcibly taken. We honor the land itself and those who have developed traditional ecological knowledge and remain land stewards throughout the generations. We recognize and value our complex history and diverse community.
